Bloglines and more networking

I am still working through the 23 Things that I mentioned in the spring. I've also tried to get a "heads up" on Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 by going on the Microsoft website to explore the software without actually having my new computer. I was anticipating having a new computer in August and dealing with library patrons using new computers in our tech center but the installation of the new computers got stalled until December.

I set up a bloglines account to learn more about RSS feeds and aggregators but I definitely need to work more on that, although I can set them up without full understanding.

Today, my project is image generators. We'll see how that goes.

Monday Musings

Library 2.0, Web 2.0, and now Learning 2.0 are the buzz words coming at me through library newsletters, teleconferences and workshops over the past months. I don't think there is a simple definition of the terms but my understanding is that we, as librarians, should embrace the multiple interactive communication opportunities through the Internet.

I read my nieces' blogs (I enjoy their thoughts) and use IM and e-mail and have posted pictures on FLickr so I'm getting there. I truly haven't decided if I want to become a blogger. I'm a reader more so than a writer and why blog if my personal musings may only be of interest to me. I'll see where this goes.

Learning 2.0 was mentioned in a NLC blog post by Christa Burns that was reprinted in the SoLiS newsletter. Check out http://plcmc12-things.blogspot.com . I'm hoping after working through the 23 Things exercises, I will have a more practical knowledge of podcasts, RSS feeds, and of more. Lesson 2 is Blogging so here I am.
